Mark leads the Firm’s Civil dispute resolution practice. He is an experienced litigator across various areas of law and has acted in both national and international fora including the Courts of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights. He frequently leads complex disputes that require careful consideration and coordination across numerous practices of law, jurisdictions and interests.
Mark is primarily focused on administrative, civil and commercial law with particular experience in public procurement and the enforcement and applicability of European Legislation in Malta including in relation to tax and free movement obligations.
His clients range from private individuals to vast multinationals, as well as governmental and public authorities.
Educational Achievements
Mark Refalo graduated with a BA in European and Legal Studies in 2000 followed by the degree of Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 2003. He further pursued his studies at the University of Birmingham, graduating with a Master of Laws cum laude in 2004.
In 2003, Mark served as VP on the International Board of the European Law Students Association where he was responsible for the organization of the first European Moot Court Competition on WTO Law.
